C.K.
Stead’s latest book Risk was launched at Unity Books Wellington last
Monday to an eager crowd of fans, friends and family. The evening started with
a round of happy birthday to celebrate young Mr Stead’s 80-year innings of a
few weeks back. His newest book focuses on recently divorced Sam, a New Zealand
lawyer and his return to London. It’s a blend of political adventure and
financial thriller set in times of life-shattering uncertainty, but still a
story with a recognizably kiwi Kiwi in the midst of it all.
This aspect was one
stylishly-toasted by Lorraine Steel in her launch speech.
The author also
commented that it was the first sunny day he had seen in Wellington for some
time.
